SEX THERAPY
Sex Therapy for Individuals & Couples
Sexual concerns can affect confidence, relationships, pleasure, and the way you experience yourself. Sex therapy offers a place to speak candidly about experiences that may feel private, complicated, or difficult to put into words.
Sessions are available in person in Boulder, Colorado, and by telehealth throughout Colorado and New York.
What Is Sex Therapy?
Sex therapy is a specialized form of talk therapy addressing the psychological, relational, behavioral, and physical factors that shape sexuality. It can help individuals and couples better understand what is happening, identify the patterns contributing to a concern, and develop a more satisfying and intentional relationship with sexuality.
Sex therapy never involves sexual contact, nudity, or physical touch between therapist and client. Depending on your goals, treatment may include education, communication strategies, mindfulness, behavioral exercises, readings, or structured practices to complete privately between sessions.
The work begins with an assessment of the concern and the broader factors influencing it. From there, we develop clear treatment goals and an approach responsive to your values, relationships, body, and circumstances.
Areas of Focus
Compulsive Sexual Behavior
Out-of-Control Sexual Behavior (OCSB), pornography concerns, "porn/sex addiction", and sexual patterns that feel difficult to control.
When sexual thoughts, urges, or behaviors become difficult to manage or no longer align with your values, relationships, or goals, therapy can help you understand what is driving the pattern, strengthen regulation and choice, and build a healthier, more intentional relationship with your sexuality.

Even strong relationships can struggle sexually. Couples often seek sex therapy when desire has changed, partners want different amounts or kinds of sexual connection, conversations about sex have become difficult, or a once-vital erotic relationship has grown distant or routine.
I work especially well with couples who have a foundation of care and friendship and want to engage meaningfully with intimacy, desire, communication, pleasure, and sexual connection.
Therapy can help couples recognize the patterns keeping them stuck, communicate with greater honesty and generosity, and create an intimate relationship that allows room for both partners’ experiences, boundaries, and desires.
Sexual Function & Performance Sexual function is influenced by the body, nervous system, relationships, beliefs, health, medication, context, and the pressure we place on ourselves. Difficulties involving arousal, erections, ejaculation, orgasm, desire, pain, or sexual performance can quickly create anxiety and self-consciousness.
Sex therapy can help identify the psychological, relational, behavioral, and contextual factors contributing to these concerns. Treatment focuses on reducing performance pressure, improving communication, and cultivating greater ease, responsiveness, and pleasure.
When appropriate, sex therapy can complement care from physicians, pelvic-health specialists, or other medical professionals.
