Out of Control Sexual Behavior (OCSB)
Men's Support Group

Men's OCSB Support Group

An ongoing, professionally facilitated support group for men working with out-of-control or compulsive sexual behavior, pornography concerns, and sexual choices that no longer align with their values or relationships.

The Power of OCSB Men’s Group

Trying to change these patterns alone can intensify shame, secrecy, and isolation. This group offers a structured setting in which men can speak honestly, learn from one another, strengthen regulation and accountability, and develop a more intentional vision of sexual health.

The group is grounded in the Out-of-Control Sexual Behavior model and a broader sexual-health framework. Members do not need to accept or reject addiction language to participate. The work focuses on understanding the function of the behavior, developing greater choice, and creating changes that are sustainable in everyday life.

OCSB Men’s Support Group

An ongoing, professionally facilitated support group for men working with out-of-control or compulsive sexual behavior, pornography concerns, and sexual choices that no longer align with their values or relationships.

Trying to change these patterns alone can reinforce the very conditions that sustain them: secrecy, shame, isolation, and reactive decision-making. This group provides a structured, nonjudgmental setting in which men can speak honestly, learn from one another, strengthen regulation and accountability, and develop a more intentional relationship with their sexuality.

Some men describe their experience as sex addiction or porn addiction. Others prefer the language of Out-of-Control Sexual Behavior (OCSB) or compulsive sexual behavior.

Is This Group Right for You?

You do need to be willing to participate honestly, examine your choices, respect the experiences of other members, and engage meaningfully in the group process.

The group may be appropriate if:

  • Sexual thoughts, urges, or behaviors feel difficult to manage

  • Pornography use or other sexual behavior consumes more time and attention than you want it to

  • You have repeatedly tried to change but struggle to sustain those changes

  • Your sexual choices conflict with your values or relationship commitments

  • Secrecy, shame, or isolation has made it difficult to seek support

  • Sexual behavior has affected trust, intimacy, work, or emotional wellbeing

  • You want accountability without humiliation or a one-size-fits-all definition of sexual health

  • You have begun developing a Sexual Health Plan and want support putting it into practice

Why OCSB Men’s Group Can Help

Many of the patterns that create difficulty in our lives also emerge in relationships: how we communicate desires and boundaries, tolerate disappointment, respond to conflict, receive feedback, and allow ourselves to be genuinely known.

A well-facilitated support group creates an opportunity to recognize these patterns and practice new ways of relating as they unfold. Members develop greater capacity for honest communication, clearer boundaries, emotional regulation, accountability, and connection—not only by discussing these skills, but by practicing them with other people.

OCSB Men’s Group also offers something individual therapy cannot fully replicate: the experience of being known by others and discovering that you are not alone. There can be profound relief in recognizing both the commonality of these struggles and the shared capacity for growth and change.

Group members work toward

01

Maintaining and refining a personal Sexual Health Plan

02

Strengthening emotional, behavioral, and attachment regulation

03

Developing a positive and integrated erotic identity

04

Practicing honesty, accountability, and authentic communication

05

Aligning sexual choices with personal values and relationship commitments

06

Building greater capacity for intimacy, boundaries, and healthy connections

The goal is not simply to suppress unwanted behavior. It is to develop the awareness, regulation, relational capacity, and clarity necessary to make intentional choices and create a sustainable vision of sexual health.

What Participation Looks Like Meetings combine structured reflection, practical skill development, interpersonal learning, and support from other men engaged in similar work.

  • Reviewing challenges and successes in following a Sexual Health Plan

  • Identifying emotional, relational, and situational contexts that intensify urges

  • Practicing mindfulness, urge surfing, and other regulation skills

  • Exploring attachment patterns, erotic conflicts, and recurring cycles

  • Examining the effects of sexual choices without collapsing into shame

  • Identifying appropriate accountability, repair, and next steps

  • Practicing direct communication and giving and receiving respectful feedback

  • Recognizing progress and strengthening the capacity to respond with choice rather than acting automatically

Members support one another in translating insight into everyday behavior. The work is candid and accountable while remaining respectful of each person’s dignity.

A Sexual-Health Framework The group is grounded in the Out-of-Control Sexual Behavior treatment model and the six principles of sexual health:

  • Consent

  • Nonexploitation

  • Honesty

  • Shared values

  • Protection from sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy

  • Mutual pleasure

This framework allows members consider whether their behavior is consensual, responsible, honest, aligned with their values, and compatible with the kind of life and relationships they want to create.

Members are encouraged to understand the effects of their choices, take responsibility, and establish boundaries that support meaningful change.

Eligibility and Requirements

Initial Assesment

Participation begins with an OCSB assessment with Auburn Meisner, PhD, LCSW, CST-S. The assessment helps determine whether the group is an appropriate fit and supports the development of an individualized Sexual Health Plan.

Individual Therapy

Because this is a professionally facilitated support group rather than a psychotherapy group, all members must remain engaged in individual therapy with a therapist of their choice while participating.

Members also agree to:

  • An initial commitment of at least three months

  • Regular attendance and meaningful participation

  • Respectful communication and adherence to group agreements

  • Protecting the privacy of other members

  • Continued work on their individual Sexual Health Plan

These requirements provide the continuity and trust necessary for the group to become a productive and supportive community.
