FAQ
Answers to Your Questions
How long is each Session?
Each session is 50 Minutes
How often do we meet and how many sessions will I need?
We will collaborate together to find a cadence that works best for you that takes into consideration the nature of your issue and availability.
In the beginning, more frequent sessions help gain momentum and catch me up to speed with you. Frequency can be adjusted at any time. How long it will take to notice changes depends on the issue and how much time and energy you have to dedicate to work on this issue.
Generally, clients have more clarity and gain powerful insights within a few consistent sessions, however, the length of therapy depends on your specific treatment plan and preference.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes, with a several legal exceptions. While our conversations are confidential, there are specific safety related exceptions. These exceptions include (1.) situations where a violent or dangerous threat is made against someone ("duty to warn/protect"), (2.) when imminent intention to harm oneself is expressed, and (3.) there is elder abuse, child abuse, or the abuse of dependent individuals.
I will not acknowledge that we work together to any outside party without your explicit, specific, written consent.
How much does a session cost?
Please contact me to inquire about my current fees. I offer a limited number of reduced fee sessions.
2022 Good Faith Estimate (No Surprise Act)
You have the right to request a “Good Faith Estimate” of how much your care will cost before your first appointment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill. For more information about the No Surprise Act, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-877-696-6775.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance companies. Most insurance companies require a diagnosis and limit the frequency and timing of our sessions which can be barriers to our work together. Although I do not work directly with insurance companies, if you want to use your out-of-network benefits, I can provide documentation for you to submit to your insurer. Please call your insurer ahead of time to discuss possible reimbursement with a "superbill" (documentation that I provide).
I am not a Medicaid provider. If you have Medicaid coverage that includes mental health services, I am not able to offer mental health services to you.
Where do sessions take place?
Most of my sessions take place over video call. I have several options for HIPPA compliant video conferencing. I offer occasional in person sessions depending on weather and location availability.
The next step is to schedule and initial consultation over phone or video call. This call is free and confidential. During this call we will discuss what is going on in your life that initiated reaching out as well as will give us a chance to see if we are a good fit to work together. If we are a good fit and your issues are within my wheelhouse, then we will book a session. If not, I will provide referrals of providers who may be better suited to your needs. To request an initial consultation, you can email me at [email protected] or fill out this form.
